During the daily White House press briefing, the Secretary of Health and Human services (HHS) announced that they were receive a donation from President Trump to help with a well known crisis in the United States, funding this donation with his 3rd quarter salary of $100,000.
The donation was for the Opioid Crisis.
For as long as many of us can remember, opioids such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, and Oxycontin have been a major cause of death among Americans due to overdosing on the drugs.
And now, President Trump is taking a clear stance against the opioid crisis.
His generous donation will help with the fight against the addiction such as public awareness and the dangers of such an addiction.
As acting HHS secretary Eric Hargan states:
“HHS will devote Trump’s 3rd quarter salary to the opioid crisis. Trump’s leadership on this issue has driven action on it across the federal government. The epidemic is so bad that about 7 people will die from a drug overdose during this press briefing alone. That’s why we’re so pleased that President Trump has decided to donate his salary this quarter to the planning and design of a large scale, public awareness campaign about the dangers of the opioid addiction.”
