What This Man Did For A Mother Of Two During The Florida Airport Shooting Is Pure Heroism
There are times when people, who may seem like they are average and unassuming on the outside, become absolute heroes when the time comes to be a hero.
When Esteban Santiago shot up the baggage claim area at the Ft. Lauderdale airport on Friday, some people dropped to the ground, some hid, some fled. This man’s reaction was terrific. From NY Post: Retired Electrician Tony Barosiewics threw himself on top of Annika Dean, whispering “I will protect you,” as bullets whizzed by, Dean told local Florida paper The Sun Sentinel.
Neither Bartosiewicz nor Dean were hit.
“He shielded me. He basically climbed on top of me and whispered, ‘I will protect you,’” the Broward County art teacher said of her savoir. “I knew he might be a victim, but I also knew I would survive.”
Annika Dean had two children, aged 13 and 11, and it was of them she was thinking. She prayed to God to save her and it was then that Tony Barosiewics appeared and covered her.
His daughter, Jenny Miller described her 70 year old father as always selfless.
