This Abandoned Nursing Home Just Might Be The Creepiest Place In New York…
There is something uniquely frightening or at the very least spooky abut old abandoned hospitals. Abandoned places in general really. There was a building I went into once that at first was the high school in this small town. Eventually it became an elementary school and finally it just sat there. It has sat there for at least twenty years and every time I go past it I think of the one time I went in there as part of a small work detail to clean the place out. It had only been about a year since it had last been used as a school but the emptiness of the place gave me the creeps like nothing else.
There are plenty of urban explorers out there who are constantly investigating new and bizarre places and uncovering the weirdest things. However, very few of them match up with the skills of an anonymous explorer who goes by the nickname Freaktography. While there are so many photo sets of his we could show you, today we want to dive into this creepy exploration of an abandoned nursing home in upstate New York…
While the exact location of this nursing home is a mystery, Freaktography tells us it was built about 100 years ago and originally served as an area hospital.
The building originally took up an entire city block and was renovated over time to allow for more patients.
During the 1960s, the facility was converted from a hospital to a nursing home.
However, in the 1990s, the facility ran into financing issues and was forced to close its doors.
For the last 20 years, it has sat abandoned and alone as nature has slowly tried to reclaim the land.
Locals have been trying for years to get the building designated as a historic landmark to save it from the wrecking ball.
However, so far at least, their attempts have failed.
